EITV Kaleidoscope - Emerging Artist Fellowship

EITV Kaleidoscope Emerging Artists Fellowship (KEAF) is a four-month long program designed for one promising Nepali artist/band from any music genre.

The fellowship includes independent musical research; an exclusive artist residency in a unique and inspiring space in Banepa; a mentorship opportunity; public performances; professional studio recording time; and the experience of making a music video from scratch with the industry’s best.

In addition, the chosen fellow will get a chance to have several one-on-one interactions with many well-known Nepali artists and bands, which will give them a chance to grow their personal and professional networks, and strengthen their own work. The fellowship hopes to be a literal and figurative space for musicians of all kinds to talk to one another across all musical genres and generations.

RESEARCH
Research can look and feel different for each artist. But for any original creation, a good amount of research is often the grounding factor. The KEAF fellow will be expected to spend a minimum of one month focusing on research for an original creation between November 2021 - February 2022.

MENTORSHIP
Mentorships are vital for the growth of any artist. Our fellow will be paired with a mentor in their musical genre of interest for a period of two months. They will be expected to hold regular meetings with their mentors for feedback on their work.

RESIDENCY
Our KEAF fellow will be awarded the Banepa Artist Residency. The artist residency is to the fellowship like harmony to chorus. Our fellow will spend two-weeks in the heart of vibrant Banepa in a cozy apartment of their own with a fully-stocked kitchen and provision for all meals. Our hope for the artist is to provide them comfort and give them a private space to create their original piece of work.

PROFESSIONAL RECORDING STUDIO + MUSIC VIDEO
To celebrate the end of the fellowship and to share the work of the KEAF fellow with the rest of the world, we award our fellow with a number of hours at a professional recording studio, and also provide them with expertise to create a music video for their originally produced track.

WHAT IS EXPECTED
The KEAF fellow must:
- participate in all programs in an earnest and respectful manner for the duration of the fellowship
- abide by the guidelines of each program
- produce at least one original track/single
- perform in two public musical events
