Sampling Soundscapes: A Hands-On Workshop into Music Production

Are you an intermediate music producer looking to expand your horizons and master the art of sampling? Join us for a dynamic workshop designed specifically for those eager to elevate their skills and explore new creative avenues in music production. The workshop conductors will be discussing their own process of sampling-based approach to creation followed by hands-on techniques and exercises to creative manipulation of samples for producing unique soundscapes.

Prerequisites:
Proficiency in your chosen Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)
Laptop with your preferred DAWs installed (Ableton Live, preferably)
Headphones for monitoring

ABOUT THE CONDUCTORS

Daniel Arthur Panjwaneey aka Alien Panda Jury / Kukido has been a member of the influential band //orangenoise from Karachi, before he started to work solo and electronic in 2010. He has also been part of NOLAND´s Karachi Files Collective and co-founded the Sine Valley Festival, which catered to experimental electronic music in the South Asian region. The first two editions of which were held in Kathmandu.

Rajan Shrestha is a Kathmandu-based interdisciplinary artist, primarily working with music. Bassist/co-producer for the Kathmandu/France based progressive rock band Atomic Bush, Shrestha produces music under the moniker of ‘phatcowlee’. Ethnomusicologist by academics, he is affiliated with a digital audio archive named Nepal Music Archive.

Anaasir अनासीर عناصر is a musical collaboration between Alien Panda Jury & Phatcowlee, based around manipulated samples and collaborations from in and around Patan. Their EP “Mandal” is available on all major streaming platforms.
